The government in Mali faced several challenges in the higher education and research sector. One of the biggest challenges was the lack of reliable information on the number of students enrolled in higher education institutions. Clarity about these figures enables the government to get a better grip on their finances, so they can develop and implement well-founded policies. CINOP carried out the ‘Campus Mali’ project, which showed the actual number of students that enabled the government to adjust its educational policies. This project was recently completed and has led to a modernization of the educational sector and a financial saving of 7.5 million euros.

Watch the video about this project here. The video includes policy makers, professors and CINOP-colleague Ouindinda Nikièma, who all talk about the impact this project has on the Malian higher education and research sector.
